Day 6 - Iowa Flooding - VBW2008

April 25 2008 »

Videoblogging Week 2008 - Day 6.

Woke up to heavy rains this morning. The sewers backed up and then came the flooding. Then came the cars trying to go through the water. Not a smart idea.

man, that’s crazy! Is this more extreme than usual or does it flood like this every time the rainfall is this heavy, aka the town needs better drainage?

Hope your house won’t suffer from Titanic-like damage :)

Well…I think this is a little unusual to get this much rain in such a short period of time. We’ve had a lot of rain lately though and that ground is saturated.

DANG that’s a lot of water. The worst flooding I’ve ever had to drive through was in Iowa, and it happened in about an hour. That bus could have at least given the stalled out guy a push!

Your hood looks like parts of South Jersey. Don’t you have sewer systems there?

Sometimes when I see these Iowa videos it seems like the most exotic place in the world.

    Our man on the scene!
I love that these happenings came be recorded like this and just published. Great little narrative. Flash floods like this seem to happen quite a bit in the UK these days, too. Hope your place wasn’t too damaged?

When I drove back up to Iowa last week my whole drive from the MO border to Waterloo was almost like driving along a lake…My parents have water all around them atm.

Do you still have Xmas lights up? Slacker!

That bus driver was slowing down for no-one eh.

I always thought a basement would be a great idea. Until now.
