Cedar Rapids Flood 08 - Rising Waters
Water rose up way too close to us earlier. It went back down later but now the skies have just opened up again and it’s raining hard, hailing on us and a tornado warning. We are just not catching any breaks here in Cedar Rapids at all today.

We’ve been hearing about floods in Iowa in the news over here, but I knew where to look to have an on-the-scene report. Nice videos, David (as always). Too bad about the damage, but we are obviously entering a strange weather pattern as here in northern Croatia we are having floods as well and we’ve never had them before. I hope things turn out OK in Iowa. Take care.

You have some great video. The media just shows the same spot over and over again. When were the tornado sirens going off? I am originally from the Fort Dodge area but moved to Georgia two years ago. We traveled through CR many times. You and every one affected are in my thoughts and prayers for remaining safe.

Teresa, the sirens never went off. We were just in a warning and no tornados were spotted.
My family and everyone in Cedar Rapids thanks everyone for their thoughts and prayers.

This is amazing.
We had a similar flood in 1993 … Missouri river became the Missouri inland ocean … though, luckily, it did not flood our house they called it “100 year flood”, which is little consolation.
We also had our basement flooded, that included all sorts of stuff, like things from grand parents, 100 or more years old, and a downstairs refrigerator and washer/dryer were floating - ruined - bobbing in the water. A good lesson in detachment.
Hang in there, and thanks for sharing these videos.

Thank you for posting these videos.
I live in South Florida and have, for a couple years in a row, been thru kind of the same thing. We feel for you …
